Stuart Anderson has thanked residents for their "overwhelming support" as he celebrates his second anniversary as South Shropshire’s Member of Parliament.
To mark the occasion, Stuart has published his third Local Plan Delivery Update. It follows his latest update which was published as part of his annual review in December 2025 and initial update in July 2025. The Update sets out his work in Parliament and across the constituency.

"It has been a huge privilege to serve as South Shropshire's Member of Parliament over the last two years since my election in July 2024. Having spent over forty years of my life in the Marches, it remains an absolute honour to represent the people and places that make our area so special. I have continued to travel across South Shropshire to hear directly about issues that matter most to residents. In Parliament, I have also continued to raise issues affecting South Shropshire and spoken up for our rural communities, while holding the government to account on decisions impacting residents, businesses, and local services. I want to thank everyone who has taken the time to contact me, attend meetings and events, and share their views for their overwhelming support. I am determined to continue listening, supporting, and delivering for people across South Shropshire.”
Roads and potholes remain a top concern for residents. Stuart has continued to push for better repairs, secured support for Church Preen, and backed the rollout of the Road Warden Scheme to give local communities more freedom to carry out small repairs before problems get worse. Access to health and social care is also a priority, and Stuart has launched a constituency-wide survey to hear directly from residents on GP appointment availability, transport to hospital services, and social care. He is using the evidence to press for improvements.
Many residents and businesses raised concerns about Royal Mail delays and unreliable deliveries. Stuart has taken these concerns directly to Royal Mail and continues to press for better postal services in rural communities. He has also been working with residents, Shropshire Council, and local stakeholders on the ongoing situation at Onibury Bridge, pushing for clear communication and practical solutions.
Keeping town centres clean, safe, and welcoming is another focus. Stuart has raised concerns about neglected and unused buildings, and is liaising with owners, local authorities, and councillors to bring key sites back into use - including the former Costa Coffee building in Ludlow, New Market Hall in Bridgnorth, and the Manor House in Cleobury Mortimer. His Shop Local Survey and High Street Survey showed clear concerns about empty shops, street cleanliness, free parking, empty buildings, and banking access. He is continuing to champion independent shops, markets, and small businesses at the heart of local communities.
For rural households, Stuart has campaigned for fairer support for heating oil and off-grid energy users. He has also worked with park home residents to raise concerns about unfair treatment and backed calls to scrap the 10% Sales Commission. Improving broadband and mobile connectivity, especially in harder-to-reach areas, remains a key part of this work. Protecting the environment is equally important. Stuart has supported action on littering, fly-tipping, river pollution, and bathing water sites, and called for greater funding for village halls and heritage sites. He is also working with SaTH, Ludford Parish Council, and the Friends of Ludlow Hospital to push for a new hospital in Ludlow and better diagnostic equipment locally.
For young people, Stuart has supported apprenticeships, skills training, and school visits to Parliament. He has spoken with Bridgnorth Jobcentre, businesses, schools, and colleges about apprenticeship opportunities and the barriers that prevent young people taking them up, including transport and the impact of the minimum wage on entry-level roles. Stuart continues to hold regular advice surgeries by appointment for personal casework on issues such as housing benefits, healthcare, and social care. He also runs informal "Coffee With Your MP" drop-in sessions across the constituency for wider local and national issues.
