Stuart Anderson MP has expressed pride upon his graduation from the Global Strategy Programme at the Royal College of Defence Studies (RCDS).
RCDS is the senior college of the Defence Academy of the United Kingdom, and is a world-renowned academic institution developing leaders from within the armed forces and Civil Service in the UK and from international partners.
Stuart Anderson MP said: “Over 30 years ago I joined the military as a junior soldier, so I am delighted to have graduated from the world-leading strategic command course. I was pleased to bring my experiences in defence and security to such a prestigious environment, surrounded by leading thinkers and decision-makers from around the world. Developing an understanding of global strategy will be vital for my work with NATO but also as I speak up on issues of defence and national security in Parliament.”
110 members from the UK and almost 50 other countries are invited each year by UK MOD, selected on ‘the basis of their potential to reach the highest ranks in their parent organisation as top decision-makers or strategic advisers’.1
Stuart brings three decades of experience in defence, having served for 8 years in the Royal Green Jackets on operational tours around the world. Subsequently, Stuart obtained an MSc in Security and Risk Management and worked around the world in the defence and security sector.
Since first becoming an MP in 2019, Stuart has regularly spoken on defence-related issues in Parliament and has sat on the Defence Select Committee. Stuart currently serves on the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, contributing to vital discussions with allies around the world.
RCDS invites Members of Parliament to join the Global Strategy Programme as part of efforts to promote a greater understanding between senior military officers and Parliamentarians.
