Stuart Anderson MP has launched a new survey to better understand the needs and aspirations of our city as it builds back better from the outbreak of COVID-19. Stuart has spoken of his determination to build a better, brighter future for local people, especially young people who have been adversely affected by the pandemic.
As a local MP, Stuart has made it a top priority to ensure that resources are in place to create a better, brighter future. Already, Stuart has successfully lobbied Ministers to increase the funding available for local schools. He has also backed key projects to level up education for local people. In February, it was announced that a new school will be built and a well-established one - S. Peter’s - will be rebuilt so that it can offer enhanced facilities.
Stuart has also campaigned for local investment from the Government’s education recovery package. In May, it was announced that the City of Wolverhampton will receive £31,149 from the Wellbeing for Education Recovery grant to level up mental health support. It builds on £36,942 from the Wellbeing for Education Return grant last August. In addition, the City has received over £1 million in education catch-up funding.
Stuart now wants to go further, ensuring that there are sufficient opportunities in place to deliver excellent education, employment, and training opportunities. In his survey, Stuart wants to find out about the priorities of his constituents as we build back better. The results of the survey will help inform the basis of Stuart’s future work on this important issue.
Stuart Anderson MP said: “At the heart of our agenda to level up is a vital mission to empower the next generation with the tools, knowledge and confidence that they need to lead fulfilling lives that they have freely chosen. As a parent, I want to ensure that all children in Wolverhampton get a great start in life, with good schools, training opportunities, and personalised career support. It falls on us as leaders in the community to ensure that these resources are in place. My better future survey has been designed to find out what more we can do as part of this important issue. I would like to hear from as many constituents of all ages as possible.”
