Stuart Anderson MP has urged vulnerable residents to find out more about the Priority Services Register.
The Priority Services Register allows energy suppliers to provide extra help such as help taking their meter readings, advanced noticed of power cuts, and making sure their phone calls are a priority.
Eligible individuals include those who are at or above the State Pension age, those with a disability or medical condition, and people with children under the age of five.
The call to action is one part of Stuart's Winter Ready Campaign, which aims to equip residents with valuable information they need as the new season approaches.
Stuart's campaign follows meetings with local Stretton Flood Action Group and Flooded People UK, a national non-profit initiative led by a team with extensive experience in flood response and more than 40 years of experience in community engagement.
Flooded People UK manage an online community which enables flood groups across the country to share advice with each other. As part of his campaign, Stuart has also updated his Local Help support webpages.
Flooding has devastated communities across South Shropshire in recent years. So, Stuart has updated his Flooding Support webpage with the latest information available.
Stuart has also updated his Energy Saver's Guide with a range of grants and financial assistance. This includes the Warm Home Discount Scheme, a £150 rebate for low-income and vulnerable households on their winter energy bill.
Residents who qualify for this assistance can anticipate receiving a letter through the post to inform them that they are from 20th October 2025.
In addition, Stuart's centralised Farming Support Portal help farmers, producers, and land managers in South Shropshire to quickly and easily find help that is available to them.
Finally, Stuart has also included contact details for organisations such as the Environment Agency, Shropshire Council, Severn Trent, and Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service.
Stuart Anderson MP said:
"As the seasons change, the warmest summer on record has been replaced with more unsettled and changeable weather – raising the prospect of flash flooding across South Shropshire in the months ahead. My Winter Ready Campaign aims to equip residents with the information they need as the new season approaches. I was delighted to meet with Stretton Flood Action Group and Flooded People UK, a national non-profit initiative led by a team with extensive experience in flood response and more than 40 years of experience in community engagement. They manage an online community which enables flood groups across the country to share advice with each other. I have also updated my Local Help support webpages with more information on energy, flooding, farming support, and much more."
