Stuart Anderson MP has urged community groups in South Shropshire to take part in UK Parliament Week, an annual campaign that celebrates British democracy.
Stuart has invited community organisations across South Shropshire to take part in the national conversation and festival of British democracy, which this year takes place between 24th and 30th November 2025.
Since it was launched in 2011, the flagship public engagement campaign has become a highlight in the parliamentary calendar. It seeks to inform everyone about the UK Parliament and empower them to make a difference in their communities.
Stuart has welcomed the opportunity as a fantastic way in which schools, youth groups, and community organisations across South Shropshire can find out more about British democracy and the role of Members of Parliament (MPs).
Last year, 2.4 million people took part in over 17,000 activities across the UK as well as in other countries. To take part, groups can sign up for a free digital kit of learning resources to help them organise local events exploring UK Parliament.
Over 10,000 community groups and schools have already signed up. Subject to availability, groups taking part can also receive free UKPW kits which includes a free booklet, pop-up ballot box, stickers and banner.
Since his election, Stuart has visited many schools and community groups in South Shropshire. Eligible schools, including those in more distant constituencies and Special Educational Needs and Disabilities schools, can claim travel subsidy allowances.
Throughout the year, teachers can sign up for free training sessions to equip themselves with the information to better nurture their learners' understanding of UK Parliament.
Stuart Anderson MP said:
"I am delighted that schools and community groups across South Shropshire have already joined with 10,000 other groups and signed up to take part in UK Parliament Week, which returns this year between 24th and 30th November 2025. Since its inception in 2011, this annual campaign of British democracy has inspired millions of people to take part in a national conversation about the role of the UK Parliament and the work of MPs. Last year, more than 2 million people took part in events in schools, village halls, and other venues across the country and abroad. I encourage everyone in South Shropshire and beyond to attend, or even organise their own, event to mark this special occasion which celebrates our cherished democratic way of life."
