Stuart Anderson MP has urged veterans in South Shropshire to check their eligibility for deferred pensions. It is part of Armed Forces Pension Awareness Week, which runs between 8th and 12th September 2025.
The campaign is run by the Forces Pension Society Charitable Fund (FPSCF), which is the charity arm of the Forces Pension Society. It aims to raise awareness of unclaimed pensions and unite veterans with them.
Stuart has welcomed the campaign, which aims to raise awareness about Armed Forces pensions and encourage eligible veterans to claim their pension entitlements.
Every year, some 2,000 preserved Armed Forces Pensions go unclaimed. The campaign aims to unite veterans with their pensions, with approximately 14,800 pension benefits remaining unclaimed.
Veterans who served after 1975 April, are now aged 60 or over, and served for two years or more may be eligible to claim for an Armed Forces Pension.
The campaign has shown tangible results, with a 14% reduction in unclaimed pensions, from 17,100 in 2023 to 14,800 in 2024. However, Stuart wants even more veterans to benefit.
It is the latest stage in Stuart's long-term campaign to support veterans in South Shropshire, which is home to more than 4,000 veterans - representing one in ten households in the constituency.
Veterans will need to apply to Veterans UK using the AFPS Form 8 or call 0800 085 3600. The campaign is the latest addition to Stuart’s Veterans Support Navigator which signposts a range of assistance available for veterans and their families.

Every year, some 2,000 deferred Armed Forces pensions go unclaimed. The sums involved can be life-changing for veterans. The latest figures show that at least 14,800 pension benefits remain unclaimed. While this is down from 17,100 in 2023, much more needs to be done. That is why I am pleased to support Armed Forces Pension Awareness Week, organised by the Forces Pension Society Charitable Fund."
