Wolverhampton South West Conservative Parliamentary Candidate was kept on his toes at the weekend running a stall for the Good Shepard Ministry Summer Fete. As one of the volunteers at the Good Shepard Ministry Stuart gets to see first-hand the need in the city to tackle homelessness. The event was held at St Michaels church in Penn and despite the weather was a huge success. The fete had everything from a live band to a book stall. The event raised over £2,500 to go towards the great work that The Good Shepard Ministry do.
With the recent news that Wolverhampton Council is set to get £718,000 to tackle homelessness in the City and offer a more flexible and responsive service. In addition, it was announced that the new Wolverhampton homeless centre has been given the go-ahead.
Commenting, Stuart said:
“I took two of my children to the fete who helped me serve on the toy store and they loved it. We were unsure of how many people would turn up because of the bad weather, but it didn’t stop people turning out in good numbers to support.
“I have been amazed at the great service to Wolverhampton at the Good Shepard Ministry. One of the first things I wanted to do in my role was to get on the volunteer team to serve the community. I am passionate about this cause and one person living on the street is one to many. I will continue to work and to support other initiatives in to reduce and ultimately end homelessness in Wolverhampton”.
