Stuart Anderson MP has published his annual report, reflecting the scope and scale of his work over the last year, during which he made 82,00 unique connections with constituents - including casework. The publication coincides with the three year anniversary of his election as the Member of Parliament for Wolverhampton South West in the 2019 General Election. Stuart said that it is a privilege to have been elected by his peers in the December 2019 General Election to serve fellow residents and that a primary goal had been to secure more investment for the city. To date, more than £1.152 billion has been raised to deliver on local priorities. This year, it includes an extra £20 million for the City Learning Quarter which, over a ten-year period, will benefit 45,000 learners and support many local jobs. It is all publicly listed on Stuart’s website here.
Stuart added that his annual report reflects the tangible impact of the Government’s ambitious action to level in places such as Wolverhampton - restoring pride in local communities and equipping them with the tools to drive economic growth and renewal. Stuart’s report includes at least one major announcement per month over the last year. In January, Wolverhampton featured prominently in the Government’s Levelling Up White Paper which was published earlier in the year and has been followed by significant investment in brownfield regeneration.
Stuart reported that the city has also benefitted from other important reforms in areas such as tackling rough sleeping, improving early years, and levelling up the creative arts - having been prioritised for investment by the Arts Council England. In addition, Stuart was delighted to welcome the cycling time trials to Wolverhampton’s very own West Park following a request he had made for the city to be included in the Commonwealth Games over the summer.
Stuart said that he is proud to have been able to help so many residents through casework enquiries, having now dealt with almost 20,000 individual cases ranging from health and social care to education, housing, and immigration. He added that this work had been undertaken during one of the most consequential periods in British history, as the city continues to recover from the aftermath of COVID-19 and Putin’s invasion of Ukraine continues to impact household budgets.
Stuart Anderson MP said: “It was the greatest honour to have been elected to serve the good people of Wolverhampton as one of the city’s three representatives in Parliament in the General Election of December 2019. Since my election, I have been on a non-stop fundraising campaign to secure investment for our city. Three years on, I am delighted that we have now raised £1.125 billion to deliver on key local priorities - including more investment for our public services, skills and education, and the infrastructure that is improving everyday life for people across our city, with a fully integrated transport hub. In 2023, we will continue to deliver the pledges on which we were elected, ensuring that we fulfil our promise to level up communities across our great country.”
