- Stuart Anderson MP to chair local export programme.
- A series of events designed to help businesses grow internationally.
- First event to take place soon.
Stuart Anderson MP will be chairing a series of local events to support and encourage businesses to grow internationally. It is part of the Parliamentary Export Programme which has been designed to give local businesses expert advice and practical guidance on growing and expanding exports.
The Department for International Trade has a network which covers over 100 countries around the world and it has approximately 275 International Trade Advisers that are located across England and can offer local support. In 2019, UK exports were worth more than £690.8 billion to the UK economy. Approximately 218,000 businesses exported goods and/or services in England in 2018. Stuart is keen to harness the potential of the UK’s future trade agreements by levelling up the UK’s exporting ambitions and strengthening relationships between local businesses and trade experts who can offer tailored support, advice, and guidance.
The first webinar will be held soon. The series of online sessions will run until the end of the year, with plans for an in-person event in Parliament in December 2021. The events are being chaired by Stuart Anderson MP and organised by the Government’s Department for International Trade. It has been set up to equip businesses with the tools and guidance needed to export and grow their business internationally, taking advantage of the new trade agreements across the world.
Stuart is inviting local businesses to find out what support is available to help them export. During the session on the 18th of February, businesses will receive tailored updates from HMRC and the Department for International Trade on exporting after Brexit. Businesses will hear from panellists including those who are already involved in exporting, an International Trade Adviser, and an Export Finance Manager on the guidance and tools available to grow businesses internationally.
Stuart Anderson MP said: “There has never been a more important time to champion the exporting potential of British businesses. I have partnered with the Department for International Trade to ensure that local businesses can access the support on offer and better understand the opportunities for growth as the UK forges its way as an independent trading nation. I am delighted to now be able to invite local businesses to an online informative and interactive webinar on exporting. Whether you have never exported before, exported in the past, or are a current exporter, this webinar is for you.”
Local businesses will be able to sign up for the event by completing the form at www.events.great.gov.uk/parliamentary-export-programme. Businesses will receive the webinar link from the local trade office which will arrive 24 to 48 hours prior to the event.
