Stuart Anderson MP has said that he is delighted to have been appointed Lord Commissioner of HM Treasury. It is part of the Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak MP’s first reshuffle since he took up office on the 25th of October 2022. Stuart said that he is proud to continue to serve in the Government, as it delivers on the Prime Minister’s priorities for the year ahead and ambition for a better future for Britain.
Stuart has served as an Assistant Government Whip under three Prime Ministers: Boris Johnson, Liz Truss, and Rishi Sunak. Following the promotion, he will continue to share responsibility for helping to organise his party’s contribution to parliamentary business. Stuart said that he looks forward to working with his colleagues in Parliament and Government to deliver on the Prime Minister’s five promises to the nation, which will help to support people at this time and build a better future for the next generations.
On the 4th of January 2023, the Prime Minister Rishi Sunak made a speech setting out his priorities for 2023. He said these five foundations can help to build a better, more secure, more prosperous future that this country deserves:
- We will halve inflation this year to ease the cost of living and give people financial security.
- We will grow the economy, creating better-paid jobs and opportunity right across the country.
- We will make sure our national debt is falling so that we can secure the future of public services.
- NHS waiting lists will fall and people will get the care they need more quickly.
- We will pass new laws to stop small boats, making sure that if you come to this country illegally, you are detained and swiftly removed.
In recent months, Stuart has helped to coordinate the passage of major legislation through the House of Commons. This has included seeing the Online Safety Bill through to Report Stage, following which it is being debated in the House of Lords, and the Economic Crime and Corporate Transparency Bill which will ensure that those people, including Putin’s cronies, do not benefit from the UK’s open society. Stuart added that he and his office will remain as contactable as ever, willing and ready to help local people with their concerns, cases, and questions.
Stuart Anderson MP said: “I am delighted to have been asked by the Prime Minister to continue serving in His Majesty’s Government at this critical time in our nation’s history. As a Lord Commissioner, I will continue to share responsibility for organising my party’s contribution to parliamentary business. I look forward to supporting the Prime Minister Rishi Sunak to deliver on the nation’s priorities to halve inflation, grow the economy, reduce debt, cut waiting lists, and control our borders.”
