Stuart Anderson MP has visited the new COVID-19 vaccination centre that has been set up at Aldersley Leisure Village. The centre has been administering COVID-19 vaccines to local residents from the afternoon of Monday the 1st of February 2021.
Opening the centre has taken weeks of planning and organisation, during which time Stuart has been working hard with city leaders including fellow MPs, the local Clinical Commissioning Group, and the public health team at the City of Wolverhampton Council. Stuart visited the vaccination centre and was shown around the site by representatives from the CCG. He was very impressed with the set up and how the logistical operation will work.
The news is the next strand of the Vaccines Delivery Plan which has been set out by the Government as the biggest vaccination programme in British history. There are more than 1,400 vaccination sites open across the country, meaning that almost everyone is within 10 miles of a vaccine service. Over eight million people have had their first vaccine.
Stuart Anderson MP has said: “I have been working hard with our local partners and the Government to ensure that our community gets the support that it needs during this unprecedented time. I am delighted that a new COVID-19 vaccination centre has been set up at Aldersley Leisure Village. I would like to thank everyone involved in getting this set up, especially the Clinical Commissioning Group, fellow MPs, and the City of Wolverhampton Council. This is a fantastic development. While there is still some way to go, it provides fresh hope that we can defeat this virus. I would encourage everyone to get the vaccine when they are called to do so.”
