Stuart Anderson MP has urged the good people of Wolverhampton to throw their support behind the local tourism sector. It is part of English Tourism Week, which celebrates the phenomenal impact that tourism contributes to the local economy. It is supported by the Prince of Wales and led by VisitEngland, the national tourism agency funded by the Department for Digital, Culture, Media, and Sport.
As a local Member of Parliament, Stuart has been championing the tourism sector and wider visitor economy in Parliament. He was one of the first MPs to call on the Government to ensure that the Culture Recovery Fund reaches grassroots organisations. Stuart is delighted that over 70% of the latest round of funding was allocated to organisations outside London.

Under Step Three of the Government’s Roadmap to recovery from COVID-19, indoor hospitality, entertainment, and attractions have been able to reopen. Stuart hailed it as another important step in reclaiming the things that we all enjoy. Now that venues are reopen, Stuart has called on constituents to take part in the annual celebration of English tourism by taking the time to visit local attractions.
Stuart has published a tourism guide to showcase the excellent venues and activities to see and do in our local community. During a visit to the National Trust’s Wightwick Manor, Stuart renewed his pledge to support the sector to bounce-back from the virus. He has spoken of the sector’s importance to the local economy. In 2019, 1,250 people were employed in the arts, entertainment, and recreation sector in Stuart’s constituency in Wolverhampton. Across the UK, English tourism generated £106 billion and supported 2.6 million jobs.
Stuart Anderson MP said: “In Wolverhampton, we have many fantastic tourism venues. From theatres to galleries and from parks to famous monuments, there is so much to see and do. Now that the sector has re-opened, I want to ensure that it is fully supported and I have called upon the Government to do so. I am glad that we have received millions of funding from the Culture Recovery Fund. I would encourage everyone to support our fantastic venues.”
